Initial Formula KMITL Team and Terminal Win BigPrizes at TSAE Auto Challenge 2017

The Initial Formula KMITL Teamof students from the Automotive Club at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, took home four prizes, winning first prize in the Cost category, second prize inthe Endurance and Static category, third prize in the Design category andachievingthird place in overall standings. In addition, the Terminal Team from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang, at the Prince of Chumphon Campus won second prize in the Best Improvement category, second prize in the Acceleration Event and third prize in the Autocross Event. There were 28 teams from academic institutions across Thailand participating in this competition which was organised by the Thailand Automotive Institute in collaboration with Grand Prix International Public Company Limited. It was held at Pathum Thani Speedway, Pathum Thani, between January 20th and 22nd, 2017.

The objective of the TSEA Auto Challenge 2017 is to enhance the skills of students in theautomotive engineering and mechanical engineering field through theactual automotive manufacture within Student Formula regulations. Apart from automotive manufacturing, students had the chance to learn about budget planning, team work, design and problem solving in preparation fortheir future career inthe automotive industry. This was the 13th consecutive annual contest.

Teams from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang, participate in the TSEA Auto Challenge every year. In 2006, the Initial II (E20) team was the first runner up and, in 2009, the Initial IV team also became the first runner up. Although the teams from KMITL did not win this year, experience was gained and mistakes were learned from and corrected sonext year’s championship is not beyond reach. Everything is achievable because “We are KMITL”.
